He joined Siemens Germany in 1990 as a Service Engineer for Gas Chromatography and worked through various assignments in Germany, Singapore, China and now ME. His responsibilities included Global Customer Service & Support, Engineering, establishing PGC Application Lab, Gas Analyzer repair Centre, Siemens Partner Management and now Centre of Excellence.

Abstract: On-line Process Gas Chromatographs are versatile, repeatable and have typically acceptable. reliability. Maintenance requires detailed analytical understanding. The desire to enhance analytical reliability and simplify maintenance is needed due to the reduced knowledge and experience at plants, as well as the objective to increase on-line data validity. Because the wide range of separation tasks a variety of hardware configurations and technologies are utilized impacting the analytical complexity, performance, reliability, associated need of understanding and experience. The analytical objective can be reached by various means, but the overall analyzer measurement objective has to be analytical simplicity. This consequently leads to improved analytical reliability and reduction in maintenance. This paper discusses various analytical subjects such as column switching configurations, inter- column detectors and detector simplifications that assist in meeting the objective of improved analyzer performance.
